Samantha is a recent graduate of the M.A. Applied Linguistics: TESL program at the University of South Florida. She graduated from the IB program at RHS in 2010, and from the University of Florida in 2014 with a bachelor's in Linguistics and a bachelor's in Anthropology, as well as a minor in Spanish and TESL certification. She then taught mathematics at RHS for one year. Samantha will be spending Summer 2017 in Oman studying Arabic as a participant in the Critical Language Scholarship program (U.S. Department of State), and will spend 2017-2018 completing a Fulbright U.S. Student grant (U.S. Department of State) as an English Teaching Assistant in Bahrain. After completing these grants, she plans to pursue a PhD in Sociolinguistics at Georgetown University.
Ridgeview High student selected among Florida's highest achieving STEM students. The Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation are recognizing 18 of North Florida’s highest-achieving eleventh grade STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) students at the Sunshine State Scholars conference May 19-20. Ridgeview High School student Evan Collins will represent Clay County among that group. The two-day conference, presented by Lockheed Martin, celebrates the accomplishments of Florida’s elite students and provides a unique venue for the state’s colleges, universities and employers to recruit their talents.
